Story of Courage: Stella Sims | Triple Negative Breast Cancer Story

Ladies In The Outdoors and Dolls & Does Collective pause today to honor a woman whose courage was tested far beyond anything she could have imagined.

Stella Sims was living an ordinary day when she felt a small, hard lump.

Then came the biopsy, the waiting and the diagnosis that stopped her world:

Triple negative breast cancer.

Her husband became her rock.

Stella tried to remain strong, but behind closed doors she saved her tears for the shower and faced nights when she was afraid to close her eyes.

When her infusion port was placed, the fight became real.

Throughout chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Stella found “angels” in the nurses, lab technicians and medical team who cared for her.

Losing her hair was one of her hardest moments.

With so much beyond her control, she chose to shave it herself.

Later, as she faced the difficult “Red Devil” treatments, Stella began counting each one as a step closer to the finish line.

After treatment, Stella chose a double mastectomy without reconstruction.

She had survived the fight, but she knew life would never return to exactly what it had been.

This was her new normal, one shaped by faith, family, gratitude and courage.

Today, Stella says:

“I am still here. I am whole. And I am moving forward.”

Stella Sims featured in the Story of Courage series sharing her journey through triple negative breast cancer, treatment and a double mastectomy.

Her story. Her strength. Her courage.

NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE.
